  • Student profile: Technicians who already have both theoretical and practical experience with Asterisk and look for an effective way to speed up their learning and lead their Asterisk knowledge to a point from where they’ll be ready to put their systems in production
  • Requirements:
    • Students should have a basic level of familiarity with the Linux operating system
    • Students should feel comfortable editing text files with either a command-line or graphical editor
    • Students should also have some basic experience with Asterisk and dialplan scripting
    • Basic knowledge telecom knowledge is helpful, but not required
  • Targets: Covering in a deep way typical issues found on VoIP/Asterisk solutions, practising guided and in first person with the platform so the jump in their skill level will be based in a deep Asterisk knowledge and will allow the student to perform safely real installations with PSTN, ISDN and E1/T1 lines.

    • Asterisk dialplan syntax and constructs, including auto-attendants and simple IVR system
    • Effective use of Asterisk features, such as call parking, audio conferencing, find-me follow-me, and music on hold.
    • Call monitoring and recording
    • Theory of Analog telephony, and how to connect Asterisk to the PSTN
    • Digital telephony using T1s and E1s
    • VoIP fundamentals and fundamental network concepts
    • SIP and IAX protocols
    • Connecting Asterisk to a VoIP provider
    • Configuring Asterisk to save Call Detail Records
    • Call queues and ACD with Asterisk
    • Call routing using DUNDi
    • Using the Asterisk Manager Interface to control Asterisk from an external program
    • Connecting Asterisk to a relational database such as MySQL
    • Troubleshooting your Asterisk system
    • Speech recognition with Asterisk and LumenVox
