Madrid 2005 Astricon summary. (Asterisk in Spain)

"First European Astricon was closed last July 15th in Madrid. It's been the first opportunity of counting with Mr. Mark Spencer (Asterisk project creator) in Spain after several visits to different European capitals such as Berlin, Paris, London or Stockholm taking part in successful talks and lectures. The event took place at the Auditorium Hotel and was divided in three working days. The first was devoted to tutorials, with parallel rooms for beginners, call centers and carriers. Avanzada 7 had the great honour of opening the first talk in the initiation track with our VoIP project manager, Mr. Sergio Serrano, which gave the only talk in spanish of the whole congress, winking at the local and south american audience (the congress received people from remote places such as Argentina, Mexico or Ecuador)..

The talks had wide audiences, standing out the call center track, which awoke high interest between the presents. The second day was spent in attractive lectures: from Nicolas Gudiño's excellent project "Flash Operator Panel", to Snom's founder talk about SIP protocol advantages over the rest of existing protocols, and Pulver CTO (Ed Guy) or AST Linux offering an Asterisk reduced version for embedded boards. In short, a general view of the cuantity & quality of products and services that today surround the same project (Asterisk). Last day (most of us arrived late because of the Asterisk Party in Viva Madrid the night before), was devoted to talk about present working lines of the project at developers level, which let us discover the substantial incoming improvements wich will contribute to get an even better (it's already great) tool.

Through the whole Astricon took place some exams to certificate the knowledge of several technical experts . Avanzada 7 can now boast about being one of the few companies in Europe with dCap certificate, which pretends to become, in a medium time, in a tranquillity warranty for customers, showing that a company has proved its capacity to introduce projects Asterisk-based.

Next Astricon edition will take place in October in California (USA). Check directly Astricon website for further information :
